ETI Teaching Goals

Should we provide more emphasize on theory and academics than on practical applications and hands on. Trades Schools, Technical Schools, Technical Colleges, and career-oriented Institutions have always put most emphasize in their training with hands on; with a do it approach to education. We have always allocated our training time in a fifty percent theory and fifty percent hands on lab type of training. We pride ourselves we the fact that our graduates are prepared to do the job day one of employment. Our students upon graduation are self-reliant able to taken on the challenge presented to them and ready to do the job day one. Proper preparation and skill building provides our students with potential for success in the field of his/her choice.

My question would be are will still going to be able to provide the necessary training and education that will accomplish this goal. Our success in the past and I belief in the future will depend on this. One of the main problems I see is time limitation. With an ever changing world and more emphasize on technology, time needed to cover all materials needed for success in a chosen field can become limited.

The employer of the 21st century is looking for employees that can perform on day one, have good critical thinking skills with computer and technology skills. Employees must be confident, responsible,  self-reliant, motivated and willing to give one hundred or more per-cent.

We all know from our experience you can stand in front of the class and lecture all you want but until the student does it they will not retain the information or be able to accomplish the task at hand.
